I purchased this hose in both 19mm and 13mm versions. The 19mm serves as the main supply line for my underground irrigation system, which branches out to various points in my garden and also feeds my sprinklers. I opted for the larger diameter to minimize water pressure loss, ensuring optimal sprinkler performance. A 13mm hose, especially over the considerable distance, would result in significant pressure drop – roughly 1.5 bar over 30 meters compared to just 0.3 bar with the 19mm. **19mm Hose:** **Pros:** * Significantly lower pressure loss, enabling efficient water transport over long distances. **Cons:** * Heavier and bulkier than the 13mm, especially when filled with water, which can make handling somewhat cumbersome. Despite its robustness, the 19mm hose is not entirely kink-proof, though its definitely more resistant than standard garden hoses. I found it strikes a good balance between flexibility and kink resistance. While you could technically use 13mm hose fittings with this hose, I wouldnt recommend it. The larger diameter is designed for a higher flow rate, and using smaller fittings would create a bottleneck, negating the benefits of the larger hose. **13mm Hose:** I use the 13mm version for tasks like watering individual plants or hedges where the 19mm would be overkill. Its much more manageable and lightweight, making it ideal for general gardening tasks. **Overall Impression:** Both the 19mm and 13mm versions are top-notch and well-made. The key difference lies in their diameter and intended applications. Both hoses are durable and feel good in the hand. They are less prone to kinking compared to typical garden hoses, with the 13mm being slightly more flexible. Although manufacturers generally advise against leaving hoses pressurized outdoors long-term, Ive done so without issue. However, I recommend using high-quality fittings to prevent leaks. In summary, both hoses are great choices. Select the diameter that best suits your needs and enjoy reliable, kink-resistant watering!
