I previously owned an older Gardena Bypass pruner model (the specific model number is unknown) that performed exceptionally well even after years of regular use. However, as one ages (referring to the user, not the pruner), the strain on ones aging hands becomes noticeable when attempting to cut thicker branches. This prompted me to purchase the Ratchet Pruner, which allows me to tackle thicker branches in a more gradual, continuous manner by taking smaller bites, unlike my previous Gardena Bypass pruner. The Ratchet Pruner offers dual modes, enabling me to use it with or without the ratchet function. Overall, it has been a joy to use, particularly when dealing with thicker branches
