For my gardening tasks, I purchased this Gardena shears. My previous garden shears were not robust enough for some plants, and a large lopping shears with a long lever was too unwieldy. I also ordered the slightly more affordable Gardena model B/M, which Ill compare further below. The garden shears, as is typical of Gardena, are of good quality and perform their function very well. The handles fit comfortably in the hand, and the blades can handle thicker branches, including heavily lignified rose stems up to 20-25mm in diameter, though with some effort. The blades remain sharp even after numerous cuts, and the mechanism is smooth and stable. Compared to the more affordable B/M model, the key differences are in the materials. This model is made of cast aluminum with inserted blades, while the B/M is steel with plastic-coated handles, with the blades being an integral part of the construction. The spring mechanism also differs, with the B/M having the spring integrated into the handle, versus the external spring on this B/L model. In terms of handling and cutting performance, both shears are roughly equivalent. The locking mechanism functions without issue, and the ergonomics are also comparable. The ability to replace the blades on this shear is potentially advantageous, though I have not yet found a source for such replacement parts. Qualitatively, both shears are high-quality and durable. Given the currently small price difference, I would opt for this model (B/L) as the spring seems to be of slightly better quality, and the potential to replace the blades could be useful in certain situations

.was buying another brand for years that I thought was pretty good. Bought two and the handles were uncomfortable and the blades weren’t sharp and they didn’t spring open. Started buying Gardena and I’ve already bought 3 variations of hand pruners, they all are aligned, sharp, better handles and return to open after a cut
